National Pay Dispute 2008 - #5 – 7 July

Do the Maths

Lambeth Council will be issuing a bulletin to all staff warning how much it would cost to take two days’ strike action.

This is based upon advice from the national employers (the same people whose refusal to make a pay offer above the rate of inflation has provoked the present national pay dispute).


The employers will be keen to spell out how much employees can lose by taking strike action. It is equally important to know how much employees will gain if and when we secure an improved offer.

In 1989 and 2002 national strike action by local government workers produced improved pay offers – it can happen again.
